Tammie Hefty worked for nearly a decade as a dental office manager in the Madison, WI area. As her daughter Evie, who has a rare genetic disorder called WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome, grew older, Tammie realized that she needed to be home more with her. This led to the decision to leave the private sector to become a substitute teacher and paraprofessional in her local school district. Since elementary school, Tammie has dreamed of being a writer. In November of 2013, as a result of a month long challenge to blog every day for National Health Blog Post Month with WEGO Health, Tammie began to focus on her writing via her personal blog My Cup Lifted. Tammie’s faith is the driving force behind her passion to write, to reach out, and to educate people about WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome. Tammie has been married to her husband Jeff for 10+ years and they currently live with Evie and their two cats in Wisconsin, with a move to Nevada in the near future.
