People cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
Life comes atcha fast- sometimes the mundane and difficult things in life CROWD out the treasure we're supposed to experience each day. But I believe God wants us to have fun and enjoy the good things He's blessed us with.
SO- Finley, Cohen, Bethany, Amy, Andie and I made our summer "bucket list" yesterday. We PLAN our fun- to make sure our summer doesn't just slip away!
We brainstormed about things we want to do, see, or accomplish before August! Check out the picture- what a cool idea to put clothes pins on a bucket and plunk them in the bucket when you do something fun.
These were just a few of the things we planned:
Nature walks and starting a fossil collection, swimming, go fishing, paint, bike trips, sort baby clothes at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, read about Amelia Earhart and visit her home in Atchison, summer movies and attend one Summer theater production.
I'm making plans for me, too! Simpler meals, kids help with chores- I need a change up, too!
Morning walks, playing with the kids, reading some books I haven't had time to read, holding hands with my hubby and walking a trail, evenings complete surrounding the fire pit, eating s'mores and guitar worship.
I love summertime- it allows me a slower pace- a different perspective of life without constant deadlines or timetables. We're going to take several mini-trips. (I've found shorter is better with our daughter Bethany (down syndrome) and our foster daughter, Andie (autism).
Life can be so full of draining, tiresome, wearying responsibilities. (no Dr. or Dentist appointments unless it's an emergency!)
Why not take a moment to make your summer bucket list today! What are dreams and wishes are you going to make realities this summer?
